中心主要承担国民经济与社会发展五年规划、产业发展规划、流域综合保护开发规划、文化旅游规划、特色小镇规划、产业园区规划、产业项目运营规划等各类规划设计工作，区域总体发展研究、空间-产业平衡发展研究、区域-城市特色与差异化发展研究、项目投融资研究等各类研究工作，以及针对城市发展中重点项目实施、重点问题解决的方案设计等各类研究工作。
